Leather Thickness

When dealing with leather, it is standard to measure the thickness in ounces, with each ounce being roughly equal to 0.4mm (1/64"). It is important to keep in mind that hides can have natural variations in thickness, even after undergoing splitting processes. Therefore, it is crucial to take into account the weight and durability when choosing the appropriate thickness for your leather projects.

For more information on general thickness guidelines and suggested applications, consult our leather thickness chart.
